開幕季:《謝謝電影神》主要節目圖片

從新技術、數位表演藝術到視覺文化實踐,新媒體藝術家及編舞家蘇文琪將推出《謝謝電影神》計畫。藉由變幻及轉譯VR作品《黑洞博物館+身體瀏覽器》到線上放映的介面與模組,蘇文琪將進一步探究3D與2D之間空間維度的劇場性、映像的編碼與變奏及電影藝術的生產與辯證。

如今,將一件表演作品搬遷到線上放映幾乎類同於走進劇場看表演般自然不過,藝術家如何在網路或實體空間媒介端呈現身體並接待觀眾,成了不再二元對立的多重宇宙。因此,當蘇文琪反思如何將一種原來具有全景全身感官包覆性的VR觀演經驗重新編碼及解碼成可能平面的影像作品時,「電影神」成了關鍵性的中介與啟示。當「電影神」讓「電影」得以成為當代文化產物,祂同時也啟發了藝術家協商動態影像的藝術在銀幕、映畫、菲林乃至360度VR景觀之間的各種既定的觀影文化、歷史與慣習。

因為電影神,影像能再次具有生命,並供應了想像力與身體感,讓映像的劇場性得以穿越立體與平面的幅度與向度。謝謝電影神,讓我們得以見證《黑洞博物館+身體瀏覽器》擴延成一種網路電影的可能。

Transforming and translating a VR work into an online setting of screening, Thank You Movie God is a project by Su Wen-Chi exploring the theatricality and cinematic variations between 3D and 2D filmmaking and coding.

Screening performance works online is no longer any surprise than what we used to take for granted watching shows in theatres. While rethinking how transcoding VR to online screening would make sense, the artist encounters Movie God. As the notion of Movie God suggests, mediums of screen, cinema, film, and 360-degree VR imagery have all coded certain protocols and engagements of spectatorship. And it is because of Movie God, a work of moving image has become possible to embody and flatten cinematic transformation and imagination. Thank you Movie God, Black Hole Museum + Body Browser has gone online.

一當代舞團 YiLab.

蘇文琪於2005年成立,團隊創作理念為:「一個作品中沒有唯一的中心媒介,只有看似相同卻又互相衝擊的概念;每位受邀參與創作的藝術家都是一個獨立的個體,皆可獨立創作,自由提出各種觀點以深入作品命題之核心。」。

創作多結合舞蹈、裝置與新媒體的表演,探索新媒體與身體相關創作議題,嘗試從新媒體的思維中,重新探索表演藝術的可能性,延伸當代藝術面對數位時代衝擊所帶來的提問與省思。

 

YiLab.

​In 2005, Su Wen-Chi founded YiLab. in Taiwan, an experimental group of new media and performance artists working on integrating new technology with the performing arts, and seeking to present new performing formats. YiLab.’s philosophy is: in a work, there is not just one dominant medium, only concepts that appear similar but collide with one another; every artist involved is an independent entity who has his/her own artistic trajectory, can freely put forward their viewpoint and undertake in-depth exploration of the core significance of the theme.

Their performance and exhibition were invited by the festivals / theaters in new media arts and performing arts, such as Gu-Ling St. International Theatre Festival, Taiwan International Festival of Arts, Taipei Digital Arts Festival, National Taichung Theater, New Horizon of Taiwan New Media Art Exhibition (Hong Kong), Asian Arts Theatre (Gwangju), Arcadi Hors Saison (Paris), SCOPITONE 2017 (Nantes), Kunstenfestivaldesarts (Brussels), STUK (Leuven), LEAP Gallery (Berlin), Potsdamer Tanztage (Potsdam), InShadow (Lisbon), Kalamata Dance Festival (Kalamata), Mapping Festival, La Bâtie (Geneva), Performance Space(Sydney)... among others.

 

臺灣 | 蘇文琪

編舞者, 新媒體表演藝術家, 一當代舞團的創立者。

作品以結合新媒體與表演藝術的概念與形式,嘗試從新媒體的思維裡,重新思索表演藝術的可能性,延伸當代藝術在面對數位科技的衝擊所帶來的提問與省思。她積極地以工作坊、研討會、表演的形式,與本地/國際藝術家與科學家保持創作上的互動與合作,她是台灣國家兩廳院2017年駐館藝術家、歐洲核子研究組織Arts@CERN科學藝術駐村藝術家,美國實驗媒體和表演藝術中心EMPAC駐館藝術家。曾獲第九屆台新藝術獎特別評審獎。2021年蘇文琪與瑞士奢華保養品牌La Prairie萊珀妮的藝術合作在巴塞爾藝術展邁阿密海灘展會獨家展出。
 

Su Wen-Chi, Taiwan

A choreographer, new media artist and the founder of YiLab.

​Combining the concepts and forms of new media and performing arts, she attempts to rethink the possibilities of performing arts from the perspective of new media, extending the controversy and reflection of contemporary art in the face of the impact of digital technology. She has actively interacted and cooperated with local and international art communities through workshops, seminars, talks and performances. She is the artist-in-residence in the National Theater & Concert Hall in Taiwan 2017, Arts@CERN / European Organization for Nuclear Research, and EMPAC / Experimental Media and Performing Arts Center, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, NY. As one of Taiwan’s iconic figures in this field, SU received the Jury’s Special Award in the 9th Taishin Arts Award and Alternative Design Gold Award in the 2017 World Stage Design Award. In 2021, Wen-Chi Su’s collaboration with Swiss skincare house La Prairie was exclusively presented during Art Basel Miami Beach.

邱誌勇,現為國立清華大學藝術學院科技藝術學士班教授,科技藝術研究所籌備主任,同時為策展人與藝評家、財團法人數位藝術基金會董事。畢業於美國俄亥俄大學跨科際藝術系博士,雙主修視覺藝術與電影,副修美學。學術專長為新媒體藝術美學、科技文化研究與當代藝術評論。

Chih-Yung Aaron CHIU, Taiwan
Professor Chih-Yung Aaron CHIU is now a full professor in the Interdisciplinary Program of Technology and Art in College of Arts, and the Director-designated for Graduate Institute of Art and Technology at National Tsing Hua University, as well as a curator, art critic and the Trustee of Digital Art Foundation. He received his PhD from School of Interdisciplinary Arts at Ohio University in the United States, with double major in visual arts and film studies, as well as a minor in aesthetics.

西班牙 | 迪亞歌.布拉斯
迪亞歌.布拉斯是一名天文物理學家,於2008年獲西班牙巴塞隆納大學物理學博士學位,擔任洛桑聯邦理工學院的博士後研究員至2011年。在紐約大學進行短期研究後,他於2012年初轉到歐洲核子研究組織(CERN)理論部擔任研究員,並在2014-2018年成為全職員工,隨後於倫敦國王學院擔任高級講師。2021年7月起,他成為巴塞隆納自治大學的Beatriz Galindo傑出研究員。 迪亞歌的主要研究領域是理論宇宙學、重力物理學和利用天體物理探測器進行標準模型之上的物理測試。他目前的研究是利用量子設備在脈衝星的極端環境下尋找新物理學(特別是暗物質及重力波),這是一種可以用來理解宇宙觀測如何向我們傳授更多關於暗物質特性和量子重力基本性質的全新方式。

 

Diego Blas, Spain
Diego Blas obtained his PhD in Physics in the University of Barcelona (Spain) in 2008. He was a postdoctoral researcher in the group of Prof. Shaposhnikov at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne till 2011. After a short research period in New York University, he moved to the Theory Division of CERN as a fellow in early 2012. He became Staff Member of CERN in 2014, until 2018 when he moved to King’s College London as Senior Lecturer. Since July 2021, he is a Beatriz Galindo Distinguished Researcher at UAB.

The main research areas of Diego Blas are theoretical cosmology, gravitational physics and tests of physics beyond the standard model with astrophysical probes. He is currently working on searches for new physics (dark matter and gravitational waves in particular) with quantum devices and in the extreme environments of pulsars, novel ways to understand how cosmological observations can teach us more about dark matter properties and fundamental properties of quantum gravity.

美國|艾許莉.菲洛慕瑞
艾許莉.菲洛慕瑞是壬色列理工學院Curtis R. Priem實驗媒體和表演藝術中心(EMPAC)的戲劇及舞蹈策展人。其策展實踐聚焦於表演及科技藝術的擴延性歷史框架,並支持藝術家以媒體為創作發展趨向。近期委託策展包括瑪莉亞.哈薩比、賈米爾.奧拉瓦萊.科索科、拉尚恩.米契爾和西拉斯.萊納雙人組合,蘇文琪及妮嘉.惠特森的作品。菲洛慕瑞將在TDR: The Drama Review 雜誌上發表一篇文章,他也分別撰寫了〈統治資訊學〉(即將由Duke Up出版)(暫譯)、〈跨境移民工具〉(2017)(暫譯)及〈戲劇的文化史:現代〉(2016)(暫譯)等篇章。她曾獲得麥克阿瑟基金會及安德魯·W·梅隆基金會的獎助,跟非營利藝術組織Creative Time合作在紐約獲得博士後研究的機會。菲洛慕瑞曾擔任維思大學表演策展實踐研究所的指導教授,目前任職於馬德里「身體、影像、運動雙年展」及TURBA: 現場藝術全球策展實踐期刊的董事會。菲洛慕瑞擁有加州大學柏克萊分校的表演研究博士學位,專攻新媒體。

 

Ashley Ferro-Murray, USA
Ashley Ferro-Murray is Curator of Theatre and Dance at the Curtis R. Priem Experimental Media and Performing Arts Center (EMPAC) at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Her curatorial practice focuses on expanding historical frames for performance and technology artworks while supporting artist-centered approaches to media. Recent commissions include works by Maria Hassabi, Jaamil Olawale Kosoko, Rashaun Mitchell and Silas Reiner, Su WenChi, and Ni’Ja Whitson. Ferro-Murray has an article forthcoming in TDR and has published book chapters in Informatics of Domination (forthcoming from Duke UP), [([])] Transborder Immigrant Tool (2017), and A Cultural History of Theatre: The Modern Age (2016). She has received awards from The MacArthur Foundation and the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, such as a postdoctoral appointment with Creative Time in New York City. Ferro-Murray has served as advisor for Institute for Curatorial Practice in Performance at Wesleyan University and currently serves on the boards of TURBA: The Journal for Global Practices in Live Arts Curation and Body, Image, Movement Biennial in Madrid, Spain. Ferro-Murray holds a PhD in Performance Studies with emphasis in New Media from the University of California, Berkeley.

《謝謝電影神》為「臺北表演藝術中心開幕節目」暨「2022 BLEED數位現場雙年展」節目,由臺北表演藝術中心委託製作,與臺灣當代文化實驗場及一當代舞團共同合作。

BLEED數位現場雙年展 (BLEED – a biennial live event in the everyday digital) 由坎貝爾敦市議會及墨爾本市議會發想,並由坎貝爾敦藝術中心及墨爾本藝術之家策劃辦理。2022年,第二屆BLEED由澳洲聯合創辦機構聯盟臺北表演藝術中心與台北當代藝術館共同製作及呈現。

「BLEED 數位現場雙年展」由文化部駐雪黎臺北經濟文化辦事處文化組支持。

 

Thank You Movie God is commissioned by Taipei Performing Arts Center in collaboration with Taiwan Contemporary Culture Lab (C-LAB) and YiLab. as part of TPAC Opening Season and BLEED 2022.

BLEED (Biennial Live Event in the Everyday Digital) was conceived by Campbelltown City Council through Campbelltown Arts Centre, and The City of Melbourne through Arts House. BLEED 2022 is produced and presented by Campbelltown City Council through Campbelltown Arts Centre, and City of Melbourne through Arts House, Taipei Performing Arts Center and Museum of Contemporary Art, Taipei.
