Golden Bough Theatre is presenting the brand-new finale of Happiness for its 30th anniversary. A-zai comes across his rebellious nephew, Lingo, along with a traveling singer, Bai-he, and others idling in foreign lands, at an edge city bistro putting on scenes of ups and downs in life… With director Wang Rong-Yu, winner of National Award for Arts and his golden performance team, leading actress Sun Shi-Pei, Yi-Shin Taiwanese Opera Troupe’s popular Xiao Sheng, and composer Wang Jun-Jie, winner of the Golden Melody Awards, again, let’s embrace the bittersweet memory of ours—no matter how time changes, dreams and hopes will carry us through.
Wang Rong-Yu, Taiwan Founder and Artistic Director of Golden Bough Theatre. Awardee of the 22th National Awards for Arts of Taiwan. Born into a family of Taiwanese opera performers. His works, incorporating the dramatic styles of the traditional and modern and the East and West, showcase rich Taiwanese culture, while his unique aesthetics has made him an influential figure in the Taiwanese drama world. He has directed more than 26 works, including “Matinee in the Rain”, “The Con Game”, “Happiness” series, “Troy, Troy...Taiwan”, and “She is So Lovely”, etc. He was nominated for Best Director at the Golden Melody Awards for Traditional Arts and Music for the show “Matinee in the Rain” in 2021.
